I'll see if I can find a donor lawn mower Steve. For now I'll have to put this on the back burner as my Jag 23 has just been put in the water and I need to get sailing. Thanks again for the loan of the tool, it'll be on its way back very soon, along with a few beer tokens.

I assume you have given the points a proper clean? It's unusual for a coil to pack up unless it's got wet. Substituting a scooter or motorbike coil might help you out.
