Having a stiff throttle that would not return to idle properly, I traced the problem back to the control arm on the engine (that the cable attaches too).
Removing the throttle control cover, the pivot was found to be clearly stiff, and after cleaning and regreasing was fine.
But during refitting, the small spring on the control rod dropped into the engine!!!
It can't be seen, felt, or grabbed with a magnetic grabbing thing!
It is pretty small, maybe 6mm long and about 4mm diameter.
Has this happened to anyone else, and what did they do?
Can I get away with leaving it inside, and hoping it will end up in the sump?
