volvo leg leak

i have a power lift on my 280 volvo legs but i have hydraulic fluid pouring out when i try to lift it up on the motor.
the oil is coming from behind the inspection plate,the one with 280 written on it secured with two screws .what am i going to find when i remove the plate .

hi, I took mine to bits to replace the oil seal on the gear change mechanism - behind the cover is the gear change linkage - and useually a whole load of silt as this area is not water proof.

If the seal has gone then you could well have water in the oil.

It's usual to replace this seal when you do the input and output shaft seals.

I've got a good book be SELECO which is up for grabs as well as my old 280 leg.

unless tou have a 280pt you will only have an electrical motor lifting the drive
there is no oil involved in the lift

later legs have power trim that uses hydraulic rams

oil seals on selector shaft as suggested seem likely culprit check the drive bellows when you at it

leaking bellows causes water ingress
