Volvo KAD 300 Supercharger

With regards to the boost pressure sensor, should I have sealed it with sealant to the t connection or just screw straight on. The compressor clutch is working fine as I connected it to 12 volts and it kicking in. Also kicks in on start up. Have not changed over the ECUs yet.

I’ve seen in some forums, that people talk about fitting a switch on the dash to control the supercharger clutch form coming on in lower revs. Is this a good or bad idea.
Why would you want to?
I think the switch modification is for KAD42/43 people who want to travel at 1800 to 2400 ( or so) rpm, maybe river use or trolling, without the supercharger cutting in.
Because the fuel injection is non intelligent there will be no auto compensation which you might get (possibly harmfully) with KAD44‘s and other ECU engines

Volvopaul, do you just put a switch before the little electronic speed module?

Thanks for the reply’s. I ask the question as this will be my third clutch in 4 years .2 on port and 1 starbord. I just find that with the sea conditions where I am,, sometime it’s difficult to go to 2800 (I think that’s when the Turbo kicks in) as the boat will be up to 20+knots.

Incorrectly shimmed so it’slipping

is it too late to save that clutch or could I re shim it. I replaced it myself and went like with like on the one I took off. Any instructions on the shimming as I’m looking at the manuals and cannot find it.

It’s blowing the fuse ? Yes , means the windings have failed . New clutch

Thanks to everyone who posted for their ideas and drawings. . Changed the Supercharger clutch and all is working again. It seems as Paul said that the clutch was slipping as I did not have the right shims in place. (Shimmed at .045mm now.) So when I increase the revs it was trying to engage, but would eventually engage with he help of the other engine. then eventually failed.
