I have a detailed pdf file how to renew the hour display but can not upload it as it keeps saying it is to big of a file. I can email it to you if you pm me your email address. I have completed the changing of the digital display several times for my self and freinds its not too taxing.
This is one of my winter jobs - Seabridge Marine do the replacement displays for £27 and provide instructions, however nobody can confirm if they keep the original hours. Has this been the case with the ones you have replaced?

Where do they pick up the sensing from?
I have no less than 4 hour counters on my new (to me) twin engined boat. Three of them work okay.
The one VP hour counter on my previous single engined boat showed a reading occasionally.

I often wonder why, on our boat, Fairline felt it necessary to replicate the hour meters on the flybridge, but not the temperature and fuel indicators - much more important, in my view. I guess the answer is cost given the hour meters only need to see the 12v going to other engine instruments whereas the other two need additional wiring.
Hmm. You must have been unlucky, I've had excellent service from them.A word of caution if you send them to Speedy Cables!
I sent mine away when the boat was lifted at the start of February and eventually, after chasing by phone many many many times i got them back in June!
I was told it would take 6-8 weeks for the refurbishment, not over 4 months!
Cost was £278.40 inc VAT and postage for a pair.
It looks like they have done a lovely job but as we needed the boat and whilst promises were forthcoming but the tachos were not i bought two brand new ones from Volvo so I could actually use the boat and get my boating season underway.
Had I known how long the refurb was actually going to take I would not have bothered, I would have either got an auxiliary hours meter or just bought new Volvo units in the first place.
