Volvo gearbox problem

Has anyone had any experience of the Volvo 2000 series gearbox spline problem discussed a few months back in PBO?

I had had a look at my splines and I am not sure if they are worn or not. The splines on the 'female' side on the engine flywheel appear narrower than the gearbox 'male' splines, but I am not convinced that it isn't designed like that.

I have taken some digital photos. Would anyone be able to take a look at them?

There has been cosiderable discussion about this problem. There was a 2001 article in PBO The WOA newsletters has had articles in it for 2 years. The WOA listserver has been full of it for most of autumn and winter. Suggest you look at these sources of info.

If you have trouble locating all the WOA posts concerning the Volvo 2000 series "spline" problem, send me a private message (via PBO) woth your email address, and I will copy ALL the messages from WOA members who have had this problem.

As Roy (above post) has said, they are all on the yahoogroups site, but if you have problems finding them, let me know.
