I sent him an email for the same but never got around to ordering one because he wants to be paid through PayPal or something I'd not heard of. I must try harder.The LED display you refer to is here http://www.boatstuff.se/display-timraknare.html I bought and fitted one. Easy to fit and it displays the correct engine hours from the memory. Some other displays that people fit are independant hours counters that start from zero or you will have to leave it to run on a 12v suply for x hours.

I've just bought the LCD display for a VDO hour meter - the same one that Volvo Penta use but mine was for a Nanni engine.
Bought from here;
http://www.yachtboatparts.com/volvo...screen-for-vp-873992-873688-873998-7745-p.asp
it came to about £76 once tax and P&P was added; and was delivered within 24hours of ordering.
I've just ordered two for that price from a new supplier I've found. I won't reveal details until they are delivered and I can vouchsafe for them being a reliable supplier. I've never seen these VDO displays as cheap as this and the guy says he has plenty.
It will be an easy swap into a Volvo or Yanmar tachometer as it's the original part used by VDO and will preserve the stored hours, of course.

Awaiting update with interest!

Not sure I would want the original vdo displays as they are well known to lack durability.... unless the replacements are in some way better than the originals.
I currently have two hour counters working out of four.
I have considered fitting a separate hour counter .My last boat had one.

That is a valid point Martyn. I've read somewhere that the display fabrication has been improved and that people are finding that the current version is more reliable.
I've had several PMs asking about the display screen so although my delivery is still on the way I'll explain that the display part number for the Siemens VDO displays used by Volvo and Yanmar tachometers serial no. N02 012 195 (it may fit some other versions as well but you will need to check) is VDO part no. A2C00065115.
With that number you can obviously search for the cheapest supplier online. I have ordered mine for EUR38 each from https://www.autolux.ee/veesõidukite.../tahhomeetri-lcd-displei-85mm-andurile-detail as these seemed to be the best value when I checked.
