Morning

I have recently had my injectors out on a pair of TAMD 73 EDC engines and ever since the port ones diagnostic light is flashing. while out I did unplug the two cables on the top by thermostat housing and crank over with injectors out to blast out cylinders before refitting. I think I've just thrown up a fault while doing this but how do I reset it?

Regards

Ian

Sadly you have done the most stupid thing ever .
The copper sleeves that the injector sits on is held in by the injector bolted into the head , by turning the engine over you can distort the position of the sleeve , I hoped you used the correct puller when you extracted the nozzles .

Re the fault code , read the flashes that will tell you the correct code and what it realates to , when I looked after it way back it was plagued with edc faults mainly due to bad wiring connections .

Thanks Paul

The copper selves never moved a fraction. Just turned over to blow out cleaners and such from when the sleves were cleaned out prior to refitting. Done 80-100 hours on her since taking ownership and been great but I'm hoping one of the connections on one of the sensors I've got crape in when refitting. is there a online list to flashes meanings?

I am not sure you can damage the sleeves doing this I have done it to remove water from an engine. If you really have to do it in the future just flip the key a bit so the engine turns a little it strains the system a bit but it will be ok. also if you are with an engine that has glow plugs these are a much better way to get to the cylinder for this purpose. Well for the codes, its quite simple they are fault indicating codes, you should have these in your user manual you need to count the flashes from the time you turn the ignition and compare that with the chart its really annoying I all ways need to do it about three times to get the code, for example it will flash for three, then pause, then eight flashes. you can probably find the codes on the internet somewhere. If you get extremely stuck, and I mean really stuck get back to me and I will find the code for you as I have all the Volvo manuals and publications on my work laptop database. The good news is its not a difficult engine very mechanical not too many electronic systems, have fun.

without putting much thought into it, Volvo nearly always uses a 5v reference voltage for its sensors so start off with looking for the voltage with your multimeter if you believe its a sensor

Thank you very much, they was only short cranks for a second or two at each time, each cylinder probably fired excess rubbish out twice during the cranking.

thank you I will take a look Friday and count also clean up the plugs and apply some electrical contact grease on the plugs. I've had the boat out for a hour since refitting and seamed much better than before so I can't imagine I've done no damage.

thanks again#
