Hi all,
My friend's Regal has a KAD32 coupled with a Duo-Prop, but not a 290. I can't remember the model, but see the library pic below (on the left, of course)

What's the name of that model, anyone know off the top of their heads?

And secondly, how complicated is a bellow change? I've done it numerous times on 290 drives, but never the one above.

OK so from Googling myself (ooh, er!), looks like it's a DP-SM: KAD32 with VP DP-SM out-drive??

spannerman mentions the bellows are easy to change, but he's changed 2000 of them!!

Wonder is there a 'how to' anywhere online. I'm going to get Googling, but if anyone does have a 'how to', please do let me know!

Thank you.

DP SX drive , the drive bellows are the same but the exhaust ones are different depending on wether the trim pump is inside or outside the boat .

Thanks for that, VP.

The trim pump is inside the boat! Good to know re. exhaust bellows.

Looking for videos online which may give an insight into bellow change / out-drive removal.

Just had a look at some videos for SX bellow replacement. Looks like a total pain compared to the DP290 / DP-G etc....

I'll bring the beer, i'll let my friend do the work :) Will have to wait until restrictions are lifted anyway.

I notice there's a few items to replace, might aswell get researching those part nos. and they can be ordered.

Really easy , 2=rams off , 6 nuts pull leg off .

can be tricky with bellows, take exhaust bellows off first that gives room to undo the clips on the drive bellows .

Also better access from the side than on a Mercruiser, but if you have the new type ‘shiny plastic’ type of rubber then its easier if you put it in a bucket of warm water first to make it more pliable, then dry off internally once its fitted. I pull out the spiral ring and pull the bellows out through the gimbal house, fitting the new one is the same in reverse. Just make sure the outer lip of the bellows sits over the locating groove in the gimbal house so it seals when the drive clamps it when its fitted.

VP, spannerman & all - Thank you for the advice!

Apart from a gasket / O-ring style for the water inlet, what other bits should be replaced during the bellow change? For example, when removing my DP-G I remember changing the plastic inserts on the sides of the out-drive (where it connects to the transom shield) - can't remember the proper name for them!

Pivot pin bushes, you won’t need to replace them on this drive, unless they are worn which is seldom on these drives.

Thanks spannerman. So is it just the seal for the water intake that needs to be replaced when removing the DP-SX?

I have never seen a KAD32 with DP-SX drives, always DP-E or similar... are you sure?

1/4 drive ratchet and various extensions to undo the bellows jubille clips, note the routing of the wire that connects them electrically all together.
