So boat out for annual maintenance and I draining and replaced the oil in the drives, all good. Replaced the drive rams after a leak last year and bleed the system. All good. Called it quits for the day and went back to our apartment. Next day back to the boat for lift in and noticed a leak of hydraulic fluid on the universal joint boot at the top of the drive. Traced this to the point where the hydraulic hose from the drive ram goes into the transom shield. The hydraulic manifold has corroded away next to one of the hose ends.
Part and mechanic due on Monday.
However, for the life of me I can’t figure out how to remove the manifold! Part 18 on the diagram below. Any help gratefully received.

VP HQ CdA is off the A8 at the Mandelieu turn off .They close for 2 hrs lunch .
There is public parts bench with Eng speaking helpful staff .
If nought happens on Monday , bomb along over there get the part and ask the techs how it fits .

Theres a shopping Mal opposite with a Lidl etc so it needn’t be just a parts trip .

I know where you are talking about, but we will flew down so pas voiture. Fingers crossed the mechanic shows up early. The part arrived Friday, but the mechanic wasn’t available.

Both hoses screw into a round adapter held to the shield with two Allen cap bolts , starboard side adapter screws into the steering valve body the port is a plate bolted from inside the boat into the shield .

So VP, if I remove the two screws (part 19) accessible from the exterior of the boat the manifold (part 18) should come away? It is the starboard drive. I have removed the two screws, but the manifold remains in place and reluctant to move. I done want to do any damage by using force. Getting at the valve (inside the boat) is a bastard of a spot and will probably require some significant engine disassembly.

You don’t need to get to the manifold inside , undo the two screws and pull it down with the pipes

There is a bonding cable now available that connects this disc to the rest of the system. The later type steering hoses don't allow continuity through them and so the steering manifold can corrode, as yours has; the bonding cable prevents this

Andy, do you have a part number as the current Volvo Penta diagram just shows the one I have with three attachment points.
Yes, it’s p/n 3862961, although comes with the manifold if you buy it as kit p/n 22087941 or 22087942 (the kit number is dependant on whether you have single or twin engines)
