Hi,

I blew a turbo in one of my d3-190’s, there’s damage to the turbine side but I don’t think there’s an air charge cooler, will the metal shavings just get sucked into the engine or where should I look to try and remove them?!

If the damage is confined to the turbine (exhaust) side of the turbocharger then any debri will enter the exhaust system not the engine. Only if the compressor side of the turbo sheds debri can anything enter the engine but as VolvoPaul said, that will most likely get trapped in the intercooler (charge air cooler).

Thank you both for the help, I took it off today and cleaned out the oil and got a few little bits of metal, hopefully that’s as far as it went ?

In addition to the previous said. You might want to take the inlet manifold off for a look… and buy a cheap borescope to have a look in at the valves, if possible
