Does anyone know where to get the male and female 2 pin connectors from if they are not proprietary to Volvo only?

Expect they are Deutsch connectors. Post a photo of the exact plugs to be sure.

If you identify them in the parts catalogue at Marine parts Europe and then Google the description and part number you may be able to find a non VP supplier
but for the sake of a few extra pennies it may be easier to simply order what you need from Volspec or other VP parts supplier

Those are deustch connectors. Quite readily available but the crimp tool is quite expensive from memory.

Deutsch make hundreds of connector types, I'm not sure what that one is exactly but it should be easy enough to identify on RS components or similar.
You could probably get them directly from a local electrical supply shop

You should find a code on them which will tell you what plug it is exactly.
Then CPC have them. If you cant find locally.
Several different versions of the pins, some you can solder. All the bits you have to order separately.
