Unbolt the elbow, be carefull as the water level may be close to the top of the raiser pipe from the leg, use plenty of sillicone spray to ease new hose on, should not be too much of a problem.

Re: Volvo AQD32\'s - Exhaust

Hiya Tony
Its no problem at all. First get in touch with Keypart for new gaskets, remove your air intake cover, undo the five bolts that hold the exhaust elbow, one of these is under the air intake cover with a wire through it, losen the jubilee clips on the rubber pipe and give the elbow a gentle tap with a wooden object if need be to seperate it from the manifold. Once the elbow is off check for rust inside, they are renowned for swelling inside and restricting the flow. As you look into the elbow you will see two channels, give them both a good scrape. When replacing the new exhaust rubber, conect the rubber to the elbow and the leg before you tighten the five bolts, it makes life easier.
This can be done with the boat still afloat, but be warned the water line is only an inch or so below the leg pipe, just stuff it with a rag while your checking the elbow, but never leave the boat in this condition unattended of course. I am assuming you have a 270 leg or similar, if you are lucky enough to have shafts then there's no worries about the water line.
If you get stuck with anything on these engines give me a shout.
Good luck.

Hi Syd have sent you a private message as I seem to remember you had AQD32's on a P32 -same setup I have.
Thanks also to scottie and pauljs. Looks like you all agree I need to remove the elbow which I was hoping to avoid but-what the hell- one more little area of expertise to explore and boats out of water at the mo so worth sorting before she goes back in.
