Hello,I am not used to the antisyphon Volvo mounted on a Volvo 2030.I clean the rubber and copper washer then change it ,as I dont like to have water in the bilge I put the drain in a bottle and get about a half glass of seawater every hour,is that normal? Itry also to locate the drain tube for oil service and dont find it as describe on the manual, have you to use the dipstick hole as usually. Thanks

The anti siphon with rubber valve shouldn't be leaking water. I suspect that the seat for the valve or the runner valve itself is damaged.

The drain tube for oil is a tube to which you can attach a suction pump. On our 2040 (the same engine essentially) its on the port side of the engine and fairly close to the dip stick. If your drain tube is missing, then its the dipstick as usual I guess.

The leaking VP anti syphon valve has been a problem for me for about 15 years on and off, first with a 2003 and now with a D1 30.
You need to catch the discharge if the engine is not to have a continuous sea water shower
This year I was getting about 100mls. per hour, most of it when running slowly, it slows down when the engine is working hard. There is never any sign of dirt or damage. I replaced the rubber disc and washer (kit from Keypart) I took care to assemble inverted and not to over tighten as advised in the manual. Discharge rate went up to about 1/2 litre per hour.
I took it off again yesterday and cleaned again and assembled tighening a bit more (about another 1/2 turn and when I ran the engine it was not dripping, I am keeping my fingers crossed.
I think that proper assembly is hit and miss and the leak is not caused by dirt but by how the rubber disc sits in its recess so worth persevering to cure it. If you turn the thing right way up before tightening the disc will drop out of the recess above it, so keep it inverted while assembling.
If discharging to a bottle be sure that water can not suck back, I use an oversize pipe which lets air in at the top.
Vetus do a plastic one with stepped connectors for different size hoses which has the option of discharging to the cockpit or overboard but they expect you to pay close to £100 for it.

Although I have removed the valve from my syphon break, the priciple remains similar. I bought some clear tubing to fit the top and led it out into the cockpit and down to the drain - practically no expense and I can keep an eye on it.

Volvo anti-syphon valve

When we first bought our boat we found that the plastic tube attached to the syphonic valve had been bent over to seal it up!
We opened it up and found out why, when we got a fair amount of water in the bilges below the engine.
Feeling that Volvo would not put one in the boat unless it was important I bought a new replacement kit which is fairly expensive as it includes the top part of the valve, when you would think that all you need is the rubber washer.
However, after replacement it was just as bad. I played with it for sometime before realising that because of poor manufacture the rubber washer was sticking in its housing. At slow speeds there is very little pressure in the raw water system to push the washer upwards. I therefore very carefully used the scissors to make the washer smaller. It now works much better but still leaks bit.
As a friend said "They would not have put a plastic tube on the outlet if water was not supposed to come out of it!"
Talking to a number of people about this problem the solution appears to be either you spend money and buy a Vetus one or, like we have done, you use a plastic cola bottle wedged into the corner somewhere and feed the plastic overflow pipe into this.

Thanks everybody,i am going to buy a vetus one ,I dont like to have water in my bilge, an even a Volvo agent in France tel me to fit a Vetus one

I can't remember the make of mine but it's a bronze one not plastic. I also used to leak water into the bilge so removed the rubber disc and fed the outlet hose overboard at the transom. So now a constant stream of water comes out of this ¼" diameter pipe so I know everything is working OK. Plenty of water still comes out of the exhaust pipe.
