can anyone tell me if there a replacement air fliter/silence part number 3809924 to replace this fliter on a D2 volvo, the one on my engine is non changeble fliter in other words the fliter is build in side the plastic case and replacement is around 70 pounds , I find it such a waste to have to replace the whole thing went there just a paper fliter inside that could be replace for a few pennys .

Is there any way that you could use the silencer/filter for the D2-55? look at http://www.volvopentashop.com/Volsp...eDieselEngines/7744440/7744440_25/7744440_035

It would cost about £80 initially but the filter is washable afterwards

That is what we have on ours anbd you can wash it, although did have to replace it last year as it disintegrated on washing, but was 8 years old. But only needed to replace the filter sock, not the rest.

Vic, if you could wait you can see if mine would fit yours when we meet up next

I know that VP have a vested interest in flogging their spare parts, but I really can't see any logic in their requirement that the air filter be replaced every 500 hrs or every 2 years. Boat engines operate in generally clean and dust-free conditions, what's the likelihood of any significant amount of crud building up in the filter?

Got out of bed on the wrong side did we? If you had read the thread correctly you would have seen that I was replying to JordanBasset who is not the OP. IF JB had successfully used the D2-55 box on the D2-40 it would have solved the OPs problem
