Volvo 2003 Engine Mounts

Looking at replacing the three engine mounts on both the 2003 with S-120-B Sail drives.

They have two mounts under the engine and another single under the gearbox.

Have been quoted AU$420.00 each for the ones under the engine, still awaiting a figure the gearbox one.

There must be an alternative to extortion. Any advice?

3 seems an odd (i.e. strange) number. My 2003 (not a saildrive) has 4. In the UK, there are several possible sources; I don't know if they would ship to Australia.

My 2003 (not saildrive) had 4 mounts, one of which fractured. I subsequently found that this is a common problem, so Volvo have redesigned them. New design from Volspec cost about £80 for the 4, if I remember correctly. In fact I never used them (Volspec kindly refunded), got fed up with failing engine, and replaced with Volvo MD40 - about the same dimensions but 4 cyl/40 hp. Vastly improved performance

I had one replaced in 2006 on my VP2003 and the part cost was £75.53 (64.28 + 11.25 VAT).

Replaced rear mounting on Saildrive 120s in Spring of 2007. Cost in Europe was 185 euros. I agree bl......y extortionate.

Looking at the price ranges above it would seem the Cairns VP dealer is enjoying the fact that no other VP dealers are close enough to be a problem.

I would love to prove him wrong. So will continue to search for an alternative, please post if you have any more information.

Sounds as though my memory faulty. Maybe £80 for two

just done all 4 on a shaft 2003. cost was 77.94 for each mount and (believe it or not) 50.96 for the mount bracket that had sheared, a common fault. volvo mounts unlike yanmar , are just the rubber bit and you even have to re-use the bolts.

I did initially try to change just the delaminated one leaving the other three in situ, but I was getting problems with the remaining three having softened up and the engine was vibrating badly. doing all 4 magically changed this.

unfortunately (or deliberately) the design of the front mounts meant I could not find any cheaper pattern ones.

volvo have changed the mounts on this engine so often that I got three different answers as to which were the correct ones - from Volvo themselves!

if you want to post the part numbers I will get you the uk price, but tbh in rip off Britain its not likely to be much cheaper than Oz

Used their mountings before give them your spec and ask their advice, they understand 2003 Nice friendly people and prices are good
