used for Volunteer out of hrs
dependent where the Volunteer is i think, they might get a first call for an inshore shout. Saves the RNLI a few £s too??? So callouts to CG get sent to the Volunteer group in their working hours, or to RNLI outside those hours?
I can see how the boat's own insurance might not cover it on the road, but then what about the vehicle's cover? From a position of never having been in the position to know, how would one insure say a caravan on the road? surely there is an extension of the vehicle's cover for this and one would assume also for other things in/on trailers.
In addition if the boat had struck another vehicle on the road (after all it did seperate from the trailer) one must assume that it should be required to be covered by the vehicle's insurance for 3rd party liability at least, and if so then comprehensive cover is neglagably more in most circumstances.

It was reported last week about the accident. I hope they were well insured & it covers the damage.

Volunteer is often on station rather than having to get a crew to it and be launched. We had them and Rescue125 when Lazy Kipper was trying to locate a lost dinghy sailer and his young crew, Volunteer made to to the head of the Deben in amazing time because they were already afloat and off Harwich. Nice lads, very committed.
An update on their site would helpYes, I sent them a small donation towards their repair costs yesterday. They are a valuable bunch of chaps and I hope they get things working in time for next season.

Yes - though I find their website clunky and difficult to navigate, for example, try finding a way to electronically send them a small donation - maybe someone who knows about website design and update could offer them their services? Unfortunately I know nuffin about web design.
They could easily include a PayPal link.
They do have a "Buy Now" button as wellas a "Donate" button. Haven't pressed them thought, so not sure of the payment method.
Thanks, it did sound very serious in the papers

I saw the "Volunteer" RIB at SYH yesterday, not too much damage at all to be honest. Yes ok, one engine is half hanging off, and a slight scratch on the hull.
what about insurance cover for RIB & vehiclesIt is quite a bit worse, by all accounts one engine snapped it's mount and both have been bent somewhere around the shaft where they hit the road. the hull looks ok however I understand there is a crack somewhere and the tube has been torn away from the hull at the port aft qtr. Not brilliant unfortunately.
