Vodaphone PAYG internet access-changes to useage/allowances, etc

Did anyone buy one of the original PAYG dongles, with 1gb allowance but could be used for up to 180 days?
If so, have you noticed that Vodaphone now only offer the following 7 options (the 1st one is the PAYG one):

So does this now mean that the MINIMUM we will have to pay for using the service is £15 per month? With a "use it or lose it" time of 30 days.
Or is the old 1Gb useage service a legacy product and that we can carry on using it? Have they withdrawn it completely as I see no mention of it on the website?
So it looks like we have all been conned into buying a service which is no longer available. The 180 days useage was a brilliant idea for on the boat. I bought one in October 09 and have used it a fair bit . I still have over £14 worth of credit on it, so I'm assuming I will lose that over the next month or so?
We've been stitched up i'm sure?
 
BTW, have a look at the reviews for this product, it seems as though the T's and C's changed towards the end of Dec 09. The reviews go from brilliant to downright disgusting within days!!

BUT having said that, i have been using mine recently (well since Jan 10) and still have my credit left and not yet expired??
Anyone on the forum work for Vodaphane and can confirm whats going on???
 
That's very bad news. Why do they have to be so greedy? I have the 'Top up and go" dongle and it suits me down to the ground. There's no way I could justify paying by the month. I need it when I need it, and at no other time than when I need it. Likewise with my O2 phone. PAYG phone use is expensive by the minute, but over 12 months I probably only spend £20 on top-ups.

Guys, it's ok to still use the old 1gb device and top up your £15 for a gig. This remains unchanged so maybe Vodafone is still your best option, coverage, price, reliability etc

I bought mine last June with an extra 1gb free as a special offer so I have loads of credit left. I used it two weeks ago when our home broadband went off for 24hrs and this was the first time I had used it since last October.

So what are they saying exactly? Is it that any future top ups only last 30 days or we can still get a 1gb top up (instead of the new 3gb x 30 days one) that doesn't expire or does it mean the existing credits will vanish soon regardless?

As always with anything mobile communications the deals are unintelligible and designed to confuse. Vodafone will lose friends very fast over this one if this is correct and applies to existing users not just new ones.
 
I agree with AndyPandy. I purchased a PAYE dongle about 6 months ago. I emailed Vodaphone. Their reply was that with my K3565 dongle, there was no credit time limit provided it was used at least every 180 days, ie, the deal appears to continue unchanged for existing customers
 
Thanks for this thread, since I only use the dongle on the boat I must have been very close to the 180 day limit. Total usage last season, mainly weather forecasts, where I could get a signal £2.03
Ran it for half an hour this morning, gee but it is slow around here.
 
Just re-read the email. Situation is different depending if in credit or not, but after 180 days, acct. can be re-activated by topping up, but after 270 days, a zero credited account will expire.
If in credit, an un-used account loses credit after 270 days and expires after 360 days

'What if I do not use my modem for a while?
If you do not use your broadband for a set period of 180 days of topping up, unfortunately your credit will expire and your broadband will be disconnected.'

Anyone understand what this is intended to say?
Are you expected to top up every 180 days or just use it every 180 days.
 
If you have one of the originals you keep your original terms - I purchased 3 of them just before Christmas when they published the changes.

Vodafone confirmed so long as I use it every 180 days my credit it valid until I use it up. and when I top up I will get 1GB of credit for £15 which will not expire so long as I use it every 180 day. They also confirmed using it means connecting the device waiting a few seonds and then disconnecting.

Combined with a 3 Mifi dongle on a £5 / month for 500Mb tarrif has kept us connected everywhere we chose to take the boat so far.
