This one passed me by - The need to get an ETIAS from 2025, thought I've heard that the start date may have slipped.
Has it been aired on the forum and I missed it?
Do British citizens need an ETIAS to travel to Spain post Brexit?.

From time to time I sail with people with UK Discharge Books/Seaman's Cards and wonder if this could be used?

The biometrics part (identity verification) is starting in October, prepare for “chaos”! ETIAS proper, ie permission to enter, starts 2025. Then all the Brits living as illegals in Spain will wail.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I thought the permission to enter bit is EES, a sort of online visa waiver, and start date is not yet known.
ETIAS is the biometric registration.

EES is a database logging entry and exit times and will automatically show up overstays. ETIAS is to obtain permission to enter EU, needed by third country citizens, not officially resident.
