Visit Southwold

It does look good - but "don't enter in onshore winds above a force 4". That's only 15 knots, is it really that dangerous?

F4 and below is easy. F5 easterly on a strong ebb starts to develop a standing wave just inside the pier heads.
As long as you are positive and not hesitant there is no issue until you are up above 25knts. Even then get your line right and choose the right wave it's doable but possibly a little too exciting for some.
Is that any different from the deben entrance or the Ald.

I don't think my engine would overcome the Ore on the ebb, especially the bit near North Weir Point. It would take a while, anyway. OK if the ebb's just started.
Southwold is lovely. Pick your weather and go there.

Nice video, thanks.
It has been on my list for some time, but I always seem to be around in the wrong conditions.
Judging from the video, there must at least have been one fine day this summer.

Very nicely put together and serves to remind me that, unusually, we didn't get there this year. OV's advice on when it's safe to enter seemed over conservative to me and, assuming it's aimed at those who've not been before, a word or two about the need to organise fender boards as you come alongside might have been helpful. But I guess if you try to include everything, it just gets too long.

As I said, very nicely put together, a great idea.
