I've been asked to assist with a channel crossing on 16th June. The suggestion is that I should find my own way home from Cherbourg to Hayling Island while the boats owners continue with their holiday. Seems great to me....however I've been doing some research and there is no direct route back even via Portsmouth. The best I can muster is to Poole which will run me to a lot of traveling after that. There is the option of going on to Guernsey and then coming back from there Condor to Portsmouth but that will mean a further 2 day delay and would tie my hosts to going there regardless of wind an tide - a foolhardy commitment in my view.

Has anyone any suggestions or is anyone going my way.... or had I better pack my water wings?

Even the fastcat does that route. 2 hrs 40 mins. There's a new bus route that goes from the tourist office on the commercial quay, to the terminal. Not that it's a long way. Might well get a lift back as crew though if you post it a week or so before.

Peter,

Thanks a lot! I couldn't find any information regarding this on the main P&O sites nor on the ferries site I looked at (http://www.ferryinformationservice.co.uk/)
I thought I'd nearly been run down by Pride of Cherbourg at some time and couldn't beleive I was totaly mad.

Thanks a lot

Martin
