It rained this morning, first time in about 8 weeks, not unwelcome as the grass was starting to turn brown but since it is Sunday and a bit wet for cycling so I got my Admiralty charts open on Seatrak on this laptop and and the Antares anchorages on my tablet. It had opened at Coll so as good a place to start as any. In my fantasy world the the rain had stopped, sun alternating with high piled cumulus cloouds and the wind was still WSW, three to fower, courtesy of that lovely voice from Stornaway coastguard. We set off on a broad reach heading for Glenuig Bay, took no time at all and not too lumpy off Ardnamurchan, tempted to go in to Loch Moidart but too early in th day so went on round the corner. At Glenuig, like last year the pub moorings were not there but we found room to anchor and rowed ashore at the pier and walked round the bay for lunch at the Inn with a couple of pints of Best. The anchorage was sheltered from the west by the island beside the mussel farm but it was an onshore wind so we decided to move on. We considered Arisaig but while it looks good when all the golden sand is exposed at low tide we thought we might go somewhere new, Mallaig was an option but we had already expended our eating out once a day option at the Glenuig Inn and anyway we thought the bakery and fancy pizza place at the marina were closed on Sundays. So instead we did a short hop across the Sound and up Loch Nan Uamh to the Borrodale Islands, Bob offers lots of choice of anchorages here so spent a bit of time studying the charts, but though the wind was decreasing we decided to be conservative and go for the first bay east of Borradale Bay, well sheltered and only 5 m. on firm sand with little weed, so not much chain to go out. Once settled there was still enough warmth inthe sun to enjoy our post passage G &T. Got the rod out for a while as the rocky foreshore looked hopeful for pollack, sure enough got two within half an hour, between one and two pounds, filleted them on the old chopping board I keep in the cockpit locker, a few boiled spuds and some broccoli in the steamer before they hit the pan, just a knob of butter and lots of blackpepper. Bottle of white in the frig. which with the engine running for a while as we prepared to anchor was nicely cooled.
If this fine weather holds Loch Nevis tomorrow, we hear the folks at Inverie have started their own brewery but their are some reports that the mad Belgian at the Old Forge may have modified his behaviour and it is okay to go there again, if we stop in Mallaig for some of Johnstons diesel we can ask about it there.

Anyone else still in lockdown who wants to continue?

I hit the boat in front of me at my berth and now need to repair his stern and my bow. Not a good start to my fantasy voyage.
