I have been a victim of a payment scam through a boat builder in Poland called Viking boats. We don't yet know if the boat builders email was hacked or if it was the boat builders themselves committing the fraud, but I'm putting a post up to see if anyone else has been a victim to try and get more information.

No, but my bother in law was selling a villa in Bali and his buyer got done for a huge sum - intercepted email / change payment destination - so my sympathies.

For what I consider large amounts of money I do a test payment with new payees, normally a pound, if only to confirm that I have input bank details correctly. Sometimes I confirm by email or I ring up to confirm. Must admit that this is for the uk only so far, but it must work with abroad as well.

Nowadays the correct thing to do.
