Advertised as quite cheap but assurances that the motor although 14yeras old was ok.Engine started well aYanmar 16 cv with hand start facility. But it had not been looked after oil everywhere ,shoehorned into space under the cockpit .The owner. knew little about the engine and searching with a torch the fresh water impellorpump could not be found. The fuel tank was believed to be tucked away in the stern where the filler cap was but no sign of access unless you areHoudine so we passed.

That”s a shame for you. Looking for a boat sometimes reminds me of that advice to young ladies. You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find a prince.

Now the sea clock was actually visible right under the cockpit over the top of the engine,Designed byPhilip Harle a renowned French naval Architect. back in the1970s he was obviously thinking the boat wouldbe maintained by lithe flexible young French persons .

Prior to turning his hand to Naval Architecture (very successfully) Harle was one of the early instructors/skippers at Les Glenans, so I dare say he did have a ready supply of lithe young French people to perform such contortions….

Question that came to mind thinking about such a boat: If a seacock comes away in your hand during your inspection and sinks the boat, who's responsible?
When our surveyor was inspecting our boat he pulled on the hose that runs from seacock to raw water strainer. The hosetail snapped off the seacock. Luckily the boat was in the slings. I've no idea who'd have paid the bill if she had been floating in her berth. It would have been messy for sure.

And I'll bet there's a bigger overlap of the set of attached wooden plugs with the set of sound throughhulls and cocks and than with the set of ones about to fall off.
