I posted up a video this week and someone suggested we run a competition throughout the season, a sort of YBW boating oscars.

I'm not sure I totally agree it should be a competition in strictest sense for fear of putting people off sharing their films with us. I get great pleasure in watching other people's boating lives and often the videos themselves might be quite crude but the story they tell or picture they paint most vivid. A longtail boat in Asia, a BBQ on the beach or some clever tricks with a new toy. We have even seen birds eye views courtesy of newfangled flying contraptions.

I would ask that only original work is posted here. We all enjoy watching boating oddities pinched from youtube but there is a whole forum for those to be shared. The intention is for this thread to be a bit more intimate, a window on the lives of the people who frequent the forum.

Although hosted in the motor boat forum it is of course open to all forms of water based transport be it power or sail, we all drink from the same cup.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to post your video.

Henry :)

To post a video which is hosted on YouTube go to your "Video Manager" page and click "Edit" for the video you wish to post up.

You need to locate the video's YouTube video location code circled here in red:

youtubeidentify1_zps372dcfc7.jpg

The location code is everything after the / symbol (underlined in red):

youtubeidentify2_zpsbf877654.jpg

Copy and paste this and insert it into your post: [ youtube]*********[/youtube]

You need to delete the space before the first y of youtube and replace the ********* with your YouTube location code. Don't have any spaces before or after the location code. Hopefully your video should now appear in a box within your post.

I think ive got about 25 boating videos I have done over the years of trips out in the Solent, lots done with my GoPro, I wont post them all here but if it tickles anyones fancy they are on my youtube homepage. This one is from last summer and the second one proves its not always sunny in the Solent ! My excuse for not having as steady a shot is I was mostly singlehanded and have given away at least 25 feet in boat length! (filmed in HD)

Sunny

Not so sunny

Great idea for a thread Henry. Let's keep it going across this summer, and yes "self filmed" material only

Here is a short one of Bonifacio, Corsica. I'll dig out some more over the weekend

Yep, good idea.
A glimpse of sea and sunshine is surely appropriate, in these cold winter nights... :)

Great idea and some lovely films already posted!

I have lots of boating videos on my you tube channel:

Here is one that brings back very happy memories for me. Seeing Whales and Dolphins is always a highlight of any trip, and this pod of Sperm Whales were incredible!

Looking forward to seeing more of your adventures...

Pete

I have posted a series of videos of living with our Sportsboat over the last couple of years.

Rather than re-post them again here is a link to my Youtube channel - http://www.youtube.com/user/martinlines1961

At the beginning of each year we set ourselves some aims for each year and one of this years aims is to increase the quality and number of videos, so watch out for my entries once the season gets going (hopefully this weekend as the covers come off for servicing and cleaning)

So, roll on 2013 season.

some stunning video's on here !

ao this one,

This one reflects one major use of my boat and also my user name on the forums.

A small ship sunk during WW1 lying in 30m of water.

is there alway's such a good vis around the channel il ?
I assume you only have a small timeframe for a dive at slack water ?
in the video, current appears slow

Not really done any actual running videos, but got a couple fishing...

This photo collage was taken when TV fisherman Henry Gilbey joined us for a day afloat.

How do you make them come up as a window like everyone elses?

Just type the following: {youtube}serialnumber{/youtube}

but using sq brackets not curly, and "serialnumber" is the identifier of the video on yourtube. Not the full url, just the part BETWEEN (ie not including) the "v=" and the next "&". Your first one would be 6FUhy5ZCgoc

Definitely enjoying some of the vids on here. Giving me some hope for a summer

Hi Bart,

Yes generally vis is good maybe not as good as this vid. Some dives we don't get slack just slacker!

Big tidal range as you prob know but on the smaller tides get plenty of time to dive.

Good varsity of wrecks and plenty of scallops to collect.
