Been away for a while taking a massive hit for the troops in order to bring you a couple of new videos.

You know when you have a great idea and then half way through doing the thing you realise you've bitten off more than you can chew. Well that happened here. I won't lie, there were times when I thought I would never be able to complete the ordeal. I've been to hell and back for this one but it was the thought of you guys which saw me through this living nightmare so I feel it only right to share my experience with you.

The has been no photo shop, no special effects, we had to live through this in all it's horror.

They are not for the feint hearted.

Due to copyright on the music they may not work on mobile devices and in some countries (Germany) due to youtube legal battles there.

Very very impressive Henry! Very well done!

I know one should never ask the artist to explain how did he do it, but I hope you don't mind, I just have to ask :)

Love the feeling a dolly(?) gives to the shots. Was that one you were holding in the gym bit (@ 3:15, I couldn't quite make it out from the mirror)?

Did you use the X900 for this? The food scenes at 4:35 looked very impressive for a camcorder.

I know the feeling, I felt the same way editing my vid a while back ;) :D

IMHO, everything worked well. Beautiful shots, very good filming & editing and the music was spot on. Again, a fantastic result!

Yes, I get the point.. all those chefs and not a goddam pie for weeks....I'd hope you are getting a substantial refund.

I knew you chaps would understand.

To the great unwashed it looks like we just went on a long luxury cruise but the the pressures are quite significant. Would you like this Mr F, would you like that Mr F, another glass of champagne Sir and so on. Oh yes, you have to drink gallons of their damn free drinks and cocktails. Then you don't want to offend the chefs working away in the galley. It never ends....

Whilst the food was undoubtedly magnificent if you like perfect steaks, delicious seafood and inventive dishes from around the world there wasn't a decent pie to be had for love nor money. I suspect that had I asked for a steak and kidney pie one could have been prepared but I didn't want to cause work :)

The tracking shots were done on a small slider on top of a tripod. It was only a cheap one and to be honest not that good. It had a lot of play between the head and the track but I just wanted to have a bit of a play and see how it worked.

Most of the shots were done on the EOS 600. The food shots were done with a 50mm F1.4 prime lens. Stunning for things like food in limited light. Used the camcorder a bit but mostly the Canon EOS.

Edited the main video up whilst on board using Final Cut Pro which is the paid for version of iMovie. It loads media really easily compared to iMovie and also exports easier particularly for burning DVDs and so on.

Henry :)

yes yes all very interesting 50mm F1.4, but if it isnt attached to a 1/2 tonne quadcopter flown FPV through the ship's kitchens by you from the other side of the world,it's all a bit 2013,surely?
Do come along, Henry...;)

Henry, clearly your months of dedicated training paid off here. Well done, I guess you can breath a collected sigh of relief and chill now. Well done :)
Oh, great vids by the way, thanks.

Superb productions Henry, love your work, thanks for sharing.

Although this cruise is obviously fabulous, I'm convinced though, you could make any location/experience visually exciting with your photographic talent.

So sorry to hear of your hard time, but at least you could enjoy one of the finest examples of Italian ship building.
I hope that made up for the lack of a decent pie... :)

View attachment 39003 For those of us who know how to live :)

Now that really is fine dining in every sense of the word.

I can just smell it now, in my dreams it would have come from the chippy and there would be chips as well which would of course be smothered in gravy.

My only criticism would be that you use a spoon, not a fork to eat a pie when there are no chips :)
