I'm using the electronic Raymarine Autohelm, it's fixed to the rudder post in the lazerette.

I also have an external push rod autohelm that fits onto the tiller, I think it's very important to have back ups.

I did a similar route back to UK from the Carb via the Azores and north Spain
( bloody long way isnt it )

You speaking your thoughts, brought back loads of memories
similar to what I experienced .
( those whales can be frightening when up close )
some of your comments really had me laughing out loud too


I had the same idea to make as much north-ing on my trip back to north Spain, making for La Coruna
but the strong northerlies and south going current I ended up making for Bayona.
for a more comfortable ride.

Ps got a weather window to cross Biscay this time, and it was a pleasant sail home
( just realised that was six years ago now )
