Just a question .... looking at various of these dinghys ... and you see E-Motors .... why are they so tall and stick up so high above the dinghy ? Traditional outboards don't sit up so high !!
Are they still a throwback to trolling motor designs made to be bow mounted on American bass fishing boats?Just a question .... looking at various of these dinghys ... and you see E-Motors .... why are they so tall and stick up so high above the dinghy ? Like Dellquay says. I have got one that looks just like the one on your prospective boat. If you plan on still water use, it’ll be fine, unless it’s proper windy. Mine is not powerful enough to make against the tide and wind in the River Yar. Hence we bought an E Propulsion, which is adequate plus 100%. The budget is a bit of a different league of course. I think mine is rated as 250w, but it must be measured at the battery discharge rate, not at the prop, a bit like a 1970s Japanese motorbike. It would push a nice narrow canoe quite well I think, but the wetted surface of a dinghy is too much, and it won’t push our cat fast enough to get a decent ripple, never mind lifting it’s flat floor out.Just a question .... looking at various of these dinghys ... and you see E-Motors .... why are they so tall and stick up so high above the dinghy ? No, not as it comes. You can buy plastic motor mounts on the Chinees websites but personally I'd only want a light weight engine or electric drive on one of those. Not worth it for me. Maximum distance is probably 50 metres for me to the beach normally and don't even row it. Just use one paddle.I have a Vevor portable fridge .. excellent .... I also have a Vevor Diesel Heater waiting to be installed ... I expect that to be good as well.
Question "greeny" ...... is there any provision to mount an electric outboard to the Vevor dinghy ?
