I was watching YouTube when I noticed several yachts with their antennas fitted upside down and wondered was interested in everyone's thoughts.

So the radiator is next to the mast? That would create an interesting radiation pattern and probably a big null in one direction.

I always assumed that was temporary and done prior to a mast drop or for transport just to protect the aerial...

Maybe even just 'after' the mast drop as well to stop people walking into it.
