Re: VERY, VERY IMPORTANT

Interesting
I logged my details onto the site and found my boat (among 71 others of the same name) and it didn't have me down as the owner. In fact it had a friend of ours. I called them up and apparently they have been taking, on some occasions, the 'person to be contacted in case of emergency' as the owner.
It is now under investigation.
hmmmmmm

Re: Camden vs BP

They "manage" 198,000 people, do they? And 25,000 businesses? Don't these businesses have actual managers themselves? Yep. Do the council wake all the individuals up, take them to work, make their lunches and look after the house, everything - which would be reasonable since a family of 6 is funding almost two council workers full time? No, the council does none of this. And do the council workers like the teachers teach everyone fabulously? Ah no, anyone with the money would pay to go private.

The trains a bit of a red herring - these are the ones that used up £1m taxes a day prior to privatisation, and there were hefty rules bout using the same staf and so on.

Schools bit lame argument re large staff - there are under 700 teachers in camden, plus 200 part time.

Hey, my prob isn't that there are teachers and so on- it's that the government has railroaded the previous weak government - and itself- into simply assuming that spending twice as much means twice as good public service. Not true. I reckon it could be much much better with HALF the amount spent. The good people leave, the ones who can't get a job in the private sector stay put. A sacking on a grand scale is required.

Any idea how many the work+pensions dept employs? It looks like loads! Wild guess is that there are 250,000 employees handing out dole to a million unemployed. Cripes.

Sorry, kf: even tony blair (sadly) doesn't get this bad a time. I will desist!

Re: VHF Licences Explained (for those who don\'t know)

Gents,

Despite the fact that I've been too busy to visit this Forum for a few months that doesn't mean that you can't e-mail questions to me for re-posting etc.

The funniest thing about this thread is that I have written an article in the forth-coming Airwaves newsletter due to the amount of times this came up at the London Boatshow this was also why I changed the "Ship Fixed Radio Licence" (my predecessors work, honest!) back to a "Ship Radio Licence".
