Hi,
Apologies, only my second day on this forum and yet another question...!!!
I want to do a VHF radio course but seem to be struggling to find a course locally. I'm in the Chichester/Littlehampton area. Anyone know where I go and get qualified without driving all the way to Southampton on a Saturday morning? (Partly coz I want to know how to do it properly for safety reasons and partly coz its a legal requirement).

(I already know about the infrequent course that Purbeck School do at Chichester Marina occasionally but it's already full for June).

Thanks,
Matthew

The RYA website list all the trainers by (I think) county with addresses and telephone numbers, and sometimes website links

The inshore lifeboat station at Stokes Bay near Gosport used to run regular VHF courses. I did mine there about 10 years ago and it was excellent and included the realities of VHF usage. Also the cost of the course made a contribution to their funds. Known as GAFiRS, Idon't know if you would consider Portsmouth/Gosport to far? Here is the web site link

Strewth! 'GAFIRS' are they still going? I remember working with them in 1977. Nice bunch in those days run by a retired R.N. officer.

There was a radio school on Hayling Island, Northeny Marina? Run by Michael Gale who wrote some books on VHF use and he looks like Murray Walker. It was a good set up, did my SSB licence there.
