Very cross post

Secondly whilst I was in a boatyard where nobody knew me, hacksawing the companionway hatch padlock in broad daylight, nobody challenged me. Plenty of people looked, but nobody said a thing!

I had a similar experience outside a pub in South Ken many years ago. Had managed to look myself out of the car, old Vauxhall Victor, went back in pub and asked if I could borrow a wire coathanger, took a few minutes to release catch on door. Meanwhile lots of folk walking by but none said a word!!

Brits are far too polite to ask ones business :D

Comment re junior hacksaw, agree they make mincemeat of brass padlocks, I have cut through a couple in a few minutes each time. Reason was that brass padlocks have plain steel components inside. If exposed to salt water they corrode and seize the lock. B***y useless for marine work

Only quality marine grade stainless ones are likely to last all IMHO of course.

Hey all, fairly new to boating, just wondering if any body has had any problems with insurance companies paying out in these claims. Any body like to say who was good and who was bad?
