Re: You know what I am going to say...

OK, the Coelan "plug":

Ten years ago after a decade of deck leaks from old tired teak laid decks (I re-caulked the lot twice!) I applied six coats of Coelan as per maker's instructions, then found I had a skating rink at sea and added two coats of Blake's common or garden non slip deck paint.

Ten years with a dry cabin.

Two years ago I realised that I should have done the brightwork with it as well, so I now more or less have. Once again, not a drip below. And to my eyes and I think most peoples it looks exactly like varnish.

One of the last bits to get done was the coachroof coamings- two weeks ago we had a drip from a corner post so I got on and scraped the varnish off and did it. After the first coat of Coelan we had a downpour - not a drip in sight below.

I've persuaded several other people into this - nobody has yet come back and said anything other than "wonderful stuff". But a German friend of a German friend was unsucessful with it - peeled off in sheetsm, apparently. Suspect wood not dry enough to begin with.

You DO need to follow the instructions.

NB two coats of primer are a good idea.
