Got an email yesterday, saying the finish is expected between 17th to 22nd, subject to change
The next few days attempting to wriggle their way through an unusual doldrums situation will be really interesting. Where winds are lighter and fickle Armel seems to be the master.
Alex's wind gear is now adhoc too (aft quarter) and in lighter winds he has to switch the pilot to compass mode, which not only impacts on potential progress but also hinders the old 'combat naps'.
Although I seem to recall Alex got the better or Armel on the way south through the Doldrums. Nice to see sub 300 miles difference. Really need about 16 knots from the port qtr. I read somewhere that Boss gets on her foil earlier than the others and at better angles
I think you mean starboard quarter. HB is now without a starboard foil.
It's difficult to say definitively, but I suspect that Hugo Boss is faster than Banque Populaire, all other things being equal, (which, of course, they never are). HB is carrying quite a lot of damage, now, but it's still a neck-and-neck race. The doldrums can be a lottery, though.[/QUOTE
I saw Alex say in one of the videos he posted a week or two ago that he is faster in the stronger winds on the foiling tack as he has better sails.
Any real hope of overtaking seems to me to be about making a better /lucky punt on him picking a better way through the lighter winds

I think that's right.
119 miles now, however, as Airscrew mentions, The Boss is heading into a hole.
Armel, is already heading west, and will be interesting to see how this develops
No pressure. Judt one mistake and ,,,,,,
...Beyou will get the second place?

Well I certainly hope he keeps "heading west"![]()
