If he gets too close to Kerguelen, I would expect a french battery to open fire.

I think the current duel is coming down to a case of finding the best wind as they try and dodge the holes. Hugo Boss has proved to be about equal to Banque Populaire, even without the starbord foil for much of the last two weeks. BP's gain has been largely due to relative wind strength.2 nm apart now at 11h00. Armel has the faster boat speed aswell. Both must be pushing like crazy at the moment but I expect Armel to be ahead at 14h00s update. You can see why they call him the Jackal.
I don't know if I'm missing something in WindyTV, but the large map isn't a forecast is it?
If I'm right, you could try https://forecast.predictwind.com/atlas/#Wind - I'm sure there are plenty of others, but it's one that I've tried and got used to.

It would appear that, with the current southerly race limit, the Southern Ocean may not be the fast and furious downwind sleigh ride that has been seen in previous Vendees and, being a more northerly route. the race will be much more tatical as they have to negociate the centers of the depressions.

Third place is now at least a days sail behind!
AnOccasionalYachtsman.... The VG / WindyTy overlay I am using is at the link below and does have the wind forecast scroll bar at the bottom. I have noticed however that if your browser window is not big enough, the forecast wind scroll bar does disappear. Perhaps try full screen or a different browser.

I'm guessing Armel is up on his foil whilst Alex is dragging his stump.
Not getting much news from Alex T. He may already have done that when he was down to 5 or 6 knots. The lack of news from him is intreguing.2 knots slower on port tack. Sounds like Alex needs to stop his boat and whip out the angle grinder. I'm guessing that stump shouldn't take too long to cut off.
Hopefully lots of starboard tack coming up which will allow him to get back up there.
Update from Alex today/tonight. This man really deserves a medal..
2 knots slower on port tack.
