Cabin backrests need to have velcro fitted to grp to match sewn on bits. How do I do it?

you can buy self adhesive velcro tabs, I have used these for a variety of uses and they are remarkably effective. Just clean the grp possibly with acetone, before sticking the tabs on.

Commonly in Denmark. Dizzy Too, most of the time.

You can get screw-on things too, but I'd refrain until all self-adhesive attempts have failed.
(Remember to clean the surface before, removing all kinds of wax and, especially, silicone. Acetone would do it.
Then warm the surface a bit to help the glue tack when you press it on. )

No reason to make holes in your shiny GRP before you absolutely need to,

Don’t put too much hook and loop on. My new full length cushions came with the same length of Velcro. It was too much resistance. I think you may only need 3 squares: each end and middle, use the medium strength hook and loop. Don’t go for the high strength stuff.

The best Velcro is the 3M Industrial sort ... its that strong on adhesive - it can literally tear material ...

Maybe a bit too strong !! Plenty of strong self adhesive Velcro out there .... and as others say - make sure surface is cleaned well before applying.

A property of the types of adhesive used by 3M and Velcro on the back of their fastening products that isn't well known is that the glue doesn't achieve maximum strength for a while. After mounting the Velcro or 3M product do not put it under any significant load for 24 hours.

My experience with adhesive velcro on grp is that it just pulls off. I resorted to a 3" length of adhesive velcro fixed with 2 small round head screws and a matching larger piece sewn onto the back of the cushion. Worked well for many years.

Thanks all. Screwfix seems to have what you are all suggesting.

I hope it's all a standard hook and loop size. I have the loop bit on the cushions already!
