Hello Chaps!
Very new to this type of thing, but have followed it for a while having being intoduced by my old mate Kawasaki! (You may remember a thread about the raft race? Well I was the "Scrutineer" who allowed the outboard on the raft! I said as long as I didn't see anyone Waterskiing, I had no objection!)

Prompted to write by the thread about Vaynol Boat Show. Must say I have an interest in this having manned a stand for a friend last year. (Yanmarin,Orkney, Bayliner etc, you know who I mean!)

Yes, I would agree, last year left something to be desired, it had the feel of a boat themed Garden Party, but you can't knock a bloke for trying.
My view is that anyone who is trying to get a new boat show going in this climate, and it is in my back yard, then I am all for it!

The organiser has promised to try and jazz it up this year and on that promise the local boating trade decided to support him.

£7.00 aint a lot! I will spend (much) more in a chance encounter with Kawasaki in the Liver! And it is certainly cheaper than going to Earls court, Southampton or NEC.

My feeling is to support local enterprise, it will have a payback, and there is a beer tent.

Whaddya think?

Hi Binman.

£7 is a lot to stand in an almost empty field.

I have friends staying this weekend and we will be spending our £28 on something more exciting.

If they charged a couple of pounds for entry, over two or three years they would end up with a great show as all the dealers would want to be there.

They need to build up visitor numbers before they can attract the stands.

Attendance seemed poor in 2008 so the 2009 show had fewer stands. It doesn't matter what is advertised this year, I remember we were promised a great show last year as well and it was pants.

I am not paying £7 to find out if it is pants again, but I would go if it was half the price.
