VAT status and Northern Ireland, 2021 and later

As far as I can tell, there is no avoidance or evasion for a resident of NI due to the dual status of NI. That is not to say a GB or Southern Ireland resident couldn't find a way to avoid or evade VAT by using NI as a stop, before continuing to their home destination.

My reviving this thread was based on seeking the experience of others as I did not want to seek out a boat in the EU without understanding the VAT implications for an NI resident. I live and boat in Northern Ireland.

Early days yet for experiences, Covid has stopped most from changing boats or moving. I think you're correct, as a N Ireland resident it doesn't appear you would have a problem buying and importing an EU boat VAT free.
