Varnishing Toe Rail Capping - Best Practice?

Have you had any problems with Iroko staining.

Not really, but I suppose that depends on how you define "problem" :) When I stripped off the old varnish there were some stains, though really it was not a big issue - basically I got the last of the old varnish off with an electric sander and kept going till I was down to fresh timber. I find the Woodskin rubs off where eg it's subject to a lot of rubbing from mooring lines but I can put a bit more on before staining occurs.

Use Coelan, do it well and it will look like new for more than 10 years. Expensive it needs 10 coats to get 1mm thick but for such a small area it is well worth it. Fit and forget.

You are right!

The Coelan finish on your lovely "Naida" is fabulous.

However, Woodskin has the big advantage of easy touch up to damaged spots-a light wet and dry, couple of coats and it blends in a treat.
