Vancouver 27 Toughest pocket cruiser.

E39MAD,

have a look at displacement and users of Vancouvers, especially 27/28's; you might find a similarity with RangeRovers used for the school run...

and then compare it with the immaculately well displaced.....

ANDERSON 22!!!!!

Oh its all so clear now, it was a gross error by YM that they wrote up the wrong boat!!!

OK .... so I think you are stating it is a bit over kill for a weekend boat that may rarely lose sight of land. I disagree, they are great boats for single handers or two with more space given over to storage, chart work and the heads particularly the 3 berth version. The excellent balance under sail also favours short handed sailors when others may struggle under canvas or have to motor.

Ultimately each to their own and we are lucky in this part of the world to have choices. Clearly if no one agrees with your choice they are plainly wrong:rolleyes:

Nicely put.

It's very strange how we types with a sense for good boats and taste have done so well then ! :)

There's a website dedicated to ' the genius of Oliver Lee ' which is nothing to to do with me; how about the bloke responsible for your boat ?!

Love to read this type of thing, especially when covering the little known, but can't find it, could you post a link? I've read everything on the AOA site in your sig.

Only thing that came up on google when i googled "the genius of Oliver Lee" went through to a YBW forum profile.

Didn't realise this thread was a Anderson 22 v Vancouver 27 debate  - one or two may have crossed the Atlantic - numerous V27's have done circumnavigations, their owners just don't shout from the rafters about it.

Apologies to the OP - back on track I hope!

Well, much like WWII I didn't start it !

Barbican,

if you go to the blue banner at the top of this page then click on 'community' it should lead you to the Oliver Lee page; however there's not much detail, I and others plan to fix that; a good start would be getting hold of the book by David Blagden " Very Willing Griffin ".

Jimi,

one has to ask what perversion even led to you knowing about that site ?!

Although you have 4 squillion posts now, albeit on one subject, you don't have the time depth in your membership.

Years ago, we had very amusing times with Macgregors.
And Mirabellas too.
Among many other things that were childish and amusing.

FullCircle,

I'll apologise if I've upset anyone, being - or straying into - shallow depths or character is something I rather try to avoid.

I've posted on a lot of subjects, how about you ?

Seajet, when you walk into a pub do you
1) start a monologue on Anderson 22's and bore everyone into leaving?
2) start arguing with everyone around you?

If no, then why do you do it here? if yes, explains a lot.

I've posted on so many subjects, but to be fair, I have squandered most of my time in the East Coast Forum, probably because that is the one that IPC gave me when I asked for a sub forum.

I have also wasted endless time in PBO, ScutButt and, horrors, the Lounge, not to mention Mobo, Liveaboard, the book club, the virtual pub.
Crikey, I have even been to Thames and Bristol forums, but not for a while now.
I have sold a few things too.

I have organised a lot of socials, please feel free to come along. Next one is at Aladin in Brick Lane. 40 going so far, happy for you to be 41.

Through your fine efforts, the Anderson 22 has now taken the place of Macgregor 26s, because you are seen to be a bit of a one trick pony, and you bang on about it endlessly.

Go see for yourself:

Just tap this into the search box in Google: anderson 22 site:ybw.com

He doesn't go into pubs any more, because he's worried someone will hit him.

Nothing to do with Anderson 22s, but he saw some nasty rough men in the Frog and Frigate in Southampton once and has never been back since.

:)
