I've just re-fitted a repaired Balmar alternator, and I'm taking the previous upgraded one home. The charging system uses a Balmar MaxCharge.

The original alternator is still on the boat, it has a Valeo 12V Voltage Regulator YV7736 on it. I'd like to leave it wired as an emergency hot-swap, but I'm leaving in the morning. Anyone got any details on this regulator?

I'm guessing the B+ and B- are the main terminals, and that W is the tachometer. I also assume that as it has a built-in regulator, there is no field connector.

Id expect to see a ( small) connection for the warning light as well! D+ or 61 perhaps.

Yes, there is a D+, but I don't have a warning light to connect it to, so I've blanked it off. As long as my assumptions above are correct, I'm happy - it's only a spare.

Long term, I would like to see a data sheet on this. Google finds zilch, even the Valeo web site can't find the part number.

But will it start to generate without a warning light connected. Its the current through the light that gives the initial excitation with some.

It has a built in regulator..

Don't know if this link will work and, if it does, if it will help...
