Val 35 questions

I used to race against one about twenty odd years ago, owned by a dedicated racer who then went on to import a J35 from USA to replace it, it was quick but my now hazy impression was that it might not be an ideal cruiser. Might not have been as good as the J35 which he kept for much longer. I think it may have been more suited to lighter conditions. The owner was not a guy who would have contemplated cruising, to him it was a day/weekend racing machine. I vaguely recall a basic but at the time modern interior with little wood, as befits a race boat with a hull lining of light blue Flotex or similar. I think I have a photo of it racing somewhere if I can find it I will scan and post it. Long time and I have not seen one for years.
Hopefully someone will be along with more up to date and hands on information than this.

I have seen that one too i used to race against it when it was based in carrickfergus on belfast lough.
at the time it was described as a ULDB (ultra light displacement boat) and i think that was late 80's early 90's.
from memory it had plenty of sail maybe inline spreaders, runners and check stays and i dont think it went to windward in a breeze without a lot of bums on the high side.
i am looking for a cruiser racer at the minute but it would not be on my wish list I'd say it's more of racer.
I think it may have been built in yougaslavia

OK, thanks for the replies. Doesn't sound at all like what I'm looking for so you've saved me some time anyway.

Thanks again,
