Using mast as crane

Look at the photos on my home page. That engine was horrendously heavy, more than the two of us could lift off the ground. The boat is 26 ft. Note that the halyard is placed to maximise the support without bending the boom.

I think I am going to look at using a ladder with suitable starting and bracing. I have two good quality ladders and a quantity of ratchet straps. The boat isn't as level as I thought and I would have to rig the mast as it is down.
If the mast is currently down, there must be an easier way of doing this than rigging the mast for the sole purpose of being a crane.

I think if your mast and boom won't take 45kg it's better to find out now than when it falls down when you are sailing. I was talking with a guy who was setting up a contender dinghy rig yesterday and the standing rig tension was 25kg by his gauge. That is with a mast section of around 60mm at the hounds and 4mm rig wire. I would imagine the tension when the kicking strap is on must be well over 45kg never mind when a 100kg sailor is hanging on the trapeze.
