Hi there folks,

I know this is a long shot, but has anyone had any success interfacing a NASA clipper repeater with old seafarer depth sounders? I've got both Seafarer 700 and 701 - love them both - but would like a cockpit repeater to match my other NASA gear. I did read on Sailnet that this has been achieved in the past but the poster seems to be no longer active.

Any thoughts/experience would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Seafarer 700 on my boat and I have a digital repeater made by Seafarer, so there must be output to drive a repeater. Have you asked NASA.

Thanks for the response David. I spoke to a very helpful chap at NASA today - apparently NASA did make Clipper depth repeaters for the old seafarer units about 20 years ago, but they had a sticker on the back stating 'for Seafarer only'. Apparently the display driver was the same but all other circuitry was different.
Through trial and error I managed to get mine to illuminate the screen but nothing else. Worth noting that the clipper repeater works off 12v whilst the seafarer units supply only 5v.
Another point of note about NASA wire colours - these vary vastly due to the cable supplier - apperntly on an almost weekly basis so can and do vary between units......

Somewhere I have a new, boxed Seafarer repeater. Would you be interested enough in to justify me looking for it? A donation to your local RNLI or independent lifeboat would be requested.
