Needed to get the annodes changed on our boats 290 Duoprops and could not find a cheapish lift and hold anywhere but as we were going up to the Solent last week we decided to use the Sealift opposite East Cowes Marina.
We were a bit concerned as to how this worked so took a few photos. East Cowes Visitors pontoons were deserted and Silver did a good impression of Billy-no-mates

On to the Sealift and you approach it and position your boat between two arms (you can only see the port one in this photo) rising from the water which then grab you. The arms have rubber padding on the inside

The bottom of the Sealift rises and your keel ends up on two large wooden platforms, still held in place by the two arms. Also a bow rope was put on to stop the boat drifting back in the current

The hull and legs are then jet cleaned and you can get access to change the annodes. The ring annodes were completely worn, but the bar and cheesy annodes were still doing a job so I left them alone

All in all it was a painless experience and cost £80 plus vat. That done we nipped up to Yarmouth late Thursday afternoon and the sea was so flat we could have put the kettle on for a cuppa. We also did our usual 22 knots with just over 2,800 revs rather than the usual 3,000 revs so all in all it was worth it.

great pixs thanks, we went last saturday for a lick and polish of the underside too. it was our second visit. Ralph's a top bloke, and always cheerful. sealift is moving next year nearer the chain ferry on the opposite bank, those in the know next to the yellow tanks on the shore. there one going to portland at the end of the year and one to plymouth.

Good pics thanks. I used to have dissappearing ring anodes too. I bolt a doughnut anode to the upper side of the cavitation plate these days. They last a full season now.
