Anyone bothered visiting Swanwick or Lymingtons 2 used shows?

Just wondered how busy they have been as my boats at Swanwick in one of the show brochures by the broker, not been at the boat this weekend as the weather didnt look too promising, will be at the show Sat so hoping for some sunshine and of course punters for my boat.

Went past Swanwick yesterday and today and it didn't seem busy, there was a couple looking over a new Fairline opposite your boat, The rain this afternoon was enough to put any one off venturing out, and the river seemed dead this weekend!

Thanks Simon I thought so, I dont think we missed anyting this weekend by the sounds of it.

I'm assuming you mean the Premier Used Boat Show, but I went to Deacon's (to get an anode kit from Marine Power) on Friday, and their "Boat Show" display area was quieter than a very quiet thing, so I doubt it was much better across the river.....

Not ever so

Was around all weekend (went to SIBS on Friday) and Saturday afternoon wasn't all that busy, but the weather was changeable, Sunday was very quiet when we left.

The flip chart in the Marquee showed 5 boats under offer (including the S48), but who knows how many of these were subject to negotiations prior to the show commencing.

I'd be interested to know where I can pick up one (or all) of the used boat show brochures.
We're heading to Soton on saturday with the intention of looking at the used boats before we go to the main show. Can you help please?

This is what Ancasta have on offer. I believe that Solent Motor Yachts, Dickies and Walton marine also participate so you could try their websites.

Used Boat Show

We did the park & ride from Swannick 9.30 coach had a quick look around, VP see your Princess all nice and shinny, got back 7pm, found the show comfortable to walk around, so probably not what the dis players require.

Did the Lymington Sunday morning then Hamble point, and finally Swannick but the skies opened up and everyone run for cover .

More people walking around Swannick than the other to sites

Hi Mike I hope those drives are behaving after all that £££££, are you looking for a swap, did you see the windy 43 at Berthons, its still on my favourites list if the 410 sells.

was in swanwick sunday and monday.... used boat show was dead...

Went this afternoon for a look around Swanwick and Deacons, I must say it was very quiet.

Looked at my dream boat, a princess 42, was shown round by a very nice young lady from Princess, valshedas was empty, very quiet all round, shame as it was a nice sunny afternoon compared to the morning.

We were at Swanwick Sat and Sun and there were people around, usually a middle-aged couple and a salesperson going up and down pontoons. Seemed OK to me activity-wise.

Well, we went to Swanwick today having decided we didn't really want to visit SIBS this year. Found the Ancaster tent and said we were interested in looking around the used boats. We were told to walk around the boat park and come back and say if we wanted to see any boats, so we went home instead. To my mind there is nothing sadder than a boat out of the water and few look particularly attractive from below.

We tried Port Hamble as we were in the area and said we were interested in > 40' fast boats and they said that they had nothing available!

Just as well we are not serious buyers for bigger boats this year, maybe one day if I can keep my sanity at bay.

I have been in and around Swanwick since wednesday, I looked around Wednesday, little or no body in the tent at all, same Thursday, was also in Lymington working thursday, had a look around on my way out as was servicing andy59s boat that day, no one around at all.

Went to show yesterday(had no problem looking at anything of the Fairline stand) open house! not busy in morning at all, I have had my boat for sale now for 11 months, it was in a used boatshow brochure, as far as I know just 2 viewings this week and no feedback from the broker at all, im very dissapointed in the sad state of affairs trying to sell this year.

Im going to decide this week wether I px the boat or keep it another year, will see whats come in px as stock from various dealers, though word on the ground is there have not been many deals done at the show at all, anyone the wiser on that score?

The thing is, as you px up you will have even more capital invested in a depreciating asset, which can be hard to realise if you need it (as you have found) and that is fine provided you don't really need the money. For those of us who have to work for a living below 'C' level buying big boats is not really very sensible. Having had a big wake-up call this year to the real financial risks of boat ownership I will be much more sensible in future ;-)

Swanwick

We shot off to Swanwick following an earlyish departure from SIBS on Friday. There were plenty of helpful folks directing parking, and the usual bimbo behind a desk whom we ignored. We just wandered about the boat park until we found a particular boat, which we climbed aboard and spent some useful unaccompanied time there. We left without seeing anything resembling a salesperson, or other customers.

we were there late Saturday and we shown around 3 boats by the sales rep and met a hoard of them in the tent, all showing folk around... they weren't run off their feet, but they had a good few punters looking around

Hi mate I was at SIBS on Saturday, should have met up!
As said before - the problem with p/x is the broker will want to give you bottom end money for your boat and will want full price money for their boat! You'll have to hang in their mate, it only takes that one person to come along.
