upgrading to a fairline targa 47

Thanks for all the positive comments.
The cushions arent on the inventory so dont think are staying onboard, if they are i can think about going into the soft furnishing business !!
I would prefer not to disclose the final agreed price, only to say im more than happy with the deal

Cheers

Tetleys

The problem in Sweden where I live, everyone wants Volvo Penta, afraid it is difficult to sell, unfortunately.

Some experience of catt vs-D9?

I would be troubled by a broker who lets his inept gob run away with him.

'Powered by the larger CAT C12 575hp engines with only 260hrs (just serviced) together with her high specification, makes this an extremely desirable boat.'

Pictures clearly show CAT C9's and is correct in detailed description of machinery.

CAT C9's are generally first class motors and will certainly have legs on D9 in the get up and go department, and vessel may benefit from slightly lighter weight of the CAT the engines.

That's interesting LS as this boat at the right price would be a good bet and cheaper to service than the D9. In parts .

However this boat was subjected to an internal refit a few years back , not sure of the reason . High myself and tetlys viewed this boat .

Set yourself up with CAT ET for around $500 and you can be armed and dangerous...........

It became clear with a purchase of a 47 targa 2008 model here in Stockholm yesterday so it feels great,

thanks for all the answers.

Now, this boat has twin Volvo Penta D9 460 hours. Something special to think about these, think for yourself, it sounds like a good motor in general?

I did not buy it from an ad sadly. bought it from Fairline Sweden via a customer that would rate up to a larger boat so why did it never put online

having bought one after an extensive survey, what I can tell you is its difficult to pick up the little bits with the Targa 47 at survey. Also the electronics even on the 2008 models is getting old now and awful to use. and nobody changes them, looking at all the current used ones for sale they all bar one have the orginal (analogue) TV and crappy raymarine chart plotters/radar. Which compared to modern stuff are a nighmare to use.

£40k later and mine is now perfect. Well nearly there.

Watch for limescale buildup in the exhausts, spoken to a number of people who had this with T47, you wont know on seatrial or survey. There or abouts £7k to fix.
Shower / hot water pump fails. Holding tank pump fails. If boat has not had heating on once a day for an hour, due to way moisture builds up in the t47, lots of electrical connections become corroded. Had to have much of the boats electrical connections changed when I bought it for this reason. I also have an issue on mine in that it only reaches 29 knots flat out on a calm sea. Still working through the reasons it might be.

Fantastic boat. Love mine , just budget a fair amount even with service history to "make it perfect" as there getting on a bit now

Omega, ref steering wheels, are you trying to source the first one below or the second?
I have just installed 2x first one, so have newish/mint 2x the second ones available. Black leather, with Fairline shield embossed into the leather central hub, new with a 2013 sq78.

Both types of wheel are Isottas, btw

Ref the 2nd type when I purchased my 2009 model Fairline last year the wheel had suffered quite bad corrosion enough for me to ask BCU to replace it (with one from their store cupboard), no sign of any corrosion on the new one so it maybe just lack of TLC. I comment because of JFM choice of replacement which looks far superior and I imagine less prone to corrosion IMHO

I like your handbag JFM

I don't have the faintest idea about the corrosion resistance differences, if any.
Being built by the same company, I'd expect the same material to be used for the metallic bits, but I'm just guessing.

Otoh, what I never understood is the point of using in boats wheels clearly made to look nice only when perfectly centered, as they normally are in cars.
I mean, in any a/p equipped boat, as obviously Match is, the wheel has just one chance out of 360 (so to speak) to stay centered when the rudders are - which makes the elegance and ergonomic of such wheels pointless.
But please jfm, enlighten me if I'm missing something, 'cause it's a genuine question.
