I'm about to update the software on my Raymarine System.

I have two new e series MFD, some i70's, p70's, ITC-5, SPX30 autopilot.

These all need updating as well.

I've downloaded the software to my laptop and I'm about to put it onto a Micro SD card, following the Raymarine instructions, which say that the software updates must be put on the root directory of the SD card.

I'm OK with all that, but can I put all the software updates, for the different devices, onto the same root directory?

Or do I have to transfer each one onto the root directory individually, i.e. so that there is only one device update on the root at anyone time?

I did the one at a time approach last year and it was a real time consuming pain (but it worked).

I was wondering if the Raymarine updating software on the e series was smart enough to sort out the updates if there are altogether on the root directory of the SD card.

Last August I updated my i70s, p70 and ITC-5 by copying the relevant files separately onto the card and then carrying out the update procedure for each product.

It never occurred to me to try putting them all on at once but I suspect it would stop after the first update it finds but I could be wrong.

I did the same, I expected there would be a file name common to every update that the system uses to initiate the process so didn't try doing them in one go, the process has worked very reliably doing it this way, and so I will continue if only to avoid bricking my plotter!

Thanks for the replies, I'll check if there is just one common file name which indicates that the file is an update.

Just done that and there is a common file name of the form "rayatom.upgrade.xx.sh", where xx is an incrementing number starting at 00.

So the updates have to be done one at a time.

Thanks for the reality check, I hadn't thought of checking for a common filename, but when it was suggested by Little Grebe, it became obvious.
