Well, I've just tried the tips given yesterday, in oder of easiest first:

- vigorous pumping: failed

- a good dose of vegetable oil poured in the bowl, then vigorous pumping: result! First a bit of gurgling, then a stream of noisome, grey water, then, finally, a stream of sweet, pure Aqua-Limehouse Basin.

So, no dismantling, no tools, hands stayed clean, and time taken of less than two minutes.

Encourage crew to leave the flush/pump-out change over to flush. This prevents the valve rubber assuming the bent shape which stops it falling into place as it should. Another check for when you leave the boat.
