Up the Mast!

I have had one of the crew at the top of an Eboat mast on a mooring without a problem several years ago.

The Eboat is a lightly ballasted (keel 650 lbs), broad beamed 22 ft sailing craft.

The boat did heel but not excessively. Although I wouldn't have considered it in a blow.

Just to put your mind at rest, if I climb the mast it will be when the boat is on the mud which is about 8 hours in every 12. I also intend to guy the mast to the pontoons on either side with the genoa & spinnaker halyards.

It's not going to flip. I moored to a jetty so there wasn't a lot of free movement. You'll only get wet anyway.
My boat's 18ft with 300kgs of ballast. Course the mast may be a tad shorter as it's a masthead rig. On the other hand my boat will have less beam. I did the same as you. I'd just stepped the mast and the furling gear bobbin at the top of the foil dislodged. It was easier to get up and refit it than unstep the mast all over again.

A long-time lurker who can now speak with authority on a topic! As a climbing instructor I always climb the mast using jammers. I hoist a non-stretch abseil rope from its middle, using 2 halyards ( for safety), so 2 ends hang down. Climb one with jammers, with descender on other rope as backup. Take off ascenders at top, abseil down on descender. Desperately difficult to downclimb with jammers. There are also devices eg Petzel Gri-gri that can be used as an ascender, then used as an abseil brake. Changed masthead bulb last weekend in a few minutes. Practise onshore first!
